About HDA

The Australian Health and Development Alliance (HDA) is a coalition of health professionals and representatives of professional, educational, research and international aid organisations which seeks to promote and enhance coordinated health care development assistance from the Australian community.

We seek to achieve this

• by adding value and support to the many individuals and organisations that are already or are planning to provide support health care development;
• by building the capacity of health care workers to work more effectively and collaboratively in the international context;
• by providing a forum for debate and discussion to reflect on the theory, the many ethical challenges and practice of health aid;
• through the establishment of agreed principles and codes of practice to ensure cooperative action and the effective utilisation of community resources;
• where appropriate, initiating and facilitating the development and implementation of new projects and action plans.
